Intro to Boating

3 hour Boating Lesson

$375 for up to Two Students. Invite a third friend for only $187.50 more. A maximum of 3 students per lesson.

This 3 hour course will cover basic boat handling, safety procedures, navigation rules, and local waterway information to help new local boaters gain the knowledge and confidence to safely enjoy recreational boating.

What You Will Learn

From the Basics to the Finer Details

Our 3-hour Intro to Boating course is designed to educate new local boaters on everything they need to know to safely and confidently operate a recreational boat. The class will start by covering essential boating safety topics including required safety equipment, emergency procedures, weather preparedness, and safe operating practices. We will then provide hands-on instruction for basic boat operation, including pre-departure checks, starting procedures, steering, throttling, and stopping.

Other key skills covered will be docking and undocking, proper anchoring techniques, useful marine phone apps for navigation and weather, and general tips for both electric and gas-powered boats. By the end of the 3-hour course, students will have gained practical knowledge and experience to set out on their own and explore local waterways. The course provides an excellent foundation for those new to boating who want to get out on the water safely and legally.

3-Hour in Person

Learn to safely operate a boat from a USCG licensed Captain. $375 for up to Two Students. Invite a third friend for only $175 more. A maximum of 3 students per lesson.

Each student will receive equal opportunity to operate and practice what they have learned. Dress comfortably.

What to bring: Students may want to bring sunscreen, a hat, and water. Please do not wear black soled shoes.

Tips to Pass Boating Safety Test

Anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1988, must have a Boating Safety Education Identification Card to legally operate a boat in Florida.
